Mehrangate: 'Interior Ministry report unacceptable'
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court resumed hearing of the Asghar Khan case which pertains to the alleged distribution of funds by the ISI to politicians.
During proceedings, the apex court declared the report submitted by the Interior Ministry as unacceptable.
The apex court said that the report was based on memories of Interior Minister Rehman Malik which is why it was not acceptable.
The Intelligence Bureau (IB) also submitted the report related to the alleged distribution of Rs 270 million in a sealed envelope. The apex court directed the DG FIA to submit his answer on the basis of the IB report.
The Supreme Court has also ordered the Attorney General to present the reports of Mehran and Habib Bank by May 10.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry also directed Salman Raja the counsel for Asghar Khan to take the commissions report from Hamid Mir the host of Geo News program Capital Talk and present them.
The Supreme Court had earlier been informed that the report of the five member judicial commission which probed the Mehran Bank scandal two years ago had been misplaced.
Hamid Mir said he was willing to provide the report.
