SHO among six die in Lyari violence
KARACHI: At least six people including Station House Office (SHO) Civil Lines were killed and 16 others injured in Lyari violence on Saturday, Geo News reported.
Firing continued periodically causing tension in different areas of Lyari as a result five persons were killed and several others injured.
SHO Civil Line Fawwad Khan was killed and three other police officials injured when unidentified armed men hurled hand grenade and resorted to firing at Kalakot police line in Lyari.
Exchange of fire between miscreants and police is continuing.
Law enforcement agencies are continuing operation against criminal elements in the area that was launched on Friday morning where they encountered severe resistance. The security forces were attacked with hand grenades while grenade launchers were also fired.
On Friday, exchange of fire continued throughout the day that killed six persons, causing the area to shut.
Sources told that Crime Investigation Department (CID) police arrested several criminals and have taken control of some areas.
At night, there was decline in shooting incidents in the area but on Saturday morning, severe firing was reported again.
CID, Frontier Corps (FC), Elite Force and police are taking part in operation.
