Shahzain Bugti, 26 aides arrested
Staff Report
QUETTA: Police on Saturday arrested Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) leader Shahzain Bugti and his 26 aides following the non-bailable arrest warrants issued by a district and sessions court.
Balochistan Home Minister Zafar Zehri held an hour-long meeting with Shahzain before taking him to jail in his vehicle. Strong contingents of police and Anti-Terrorism Force surrounded Shahzain’s residence on Al Gilani Road. After a few hours, Zehri reached there and met Shahzain. Later, both came out of the house and the minister told reporters that he had come to implement the court orders.
Shahzain said he was implicated in fake cases to bar him from playing his role for the rights of the Baloch. He said the government had made tall claims that it would warmheartedly welcome the self-exiled Baloch leaders on their return. He said, “Now who will trust the government? They are not sparing me despite my soft stance. Who will give guarantee that they will not arrest Brahamdagh Bugti and Herbyar Marri if they return to Pakistan?” He claimed that secret agencies had whisked away his lawyer Mukesh Kohli a week ago from Quetta. He also accused security agencies of killing women and children of Bugti family in Karachi.
