Justice (r) Shahzado Shaikh nominated as Alim Judge in FSC
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan has nominated Justice (r) Shahzado Shaikh as Alim Judge in the Federal Shariat Court for one year.
According to the sources, the commission meeting was held on Saturday under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, in which Justice (r) Shahzado Shaikh was approved as Alim judge in the FSC. It must be noted that the Pakistan Bar Council representative and attorney general of Pakistan have boycotted the commission’s meeting. It has been learnt that All-Pakistan Representatives Conference will be held by the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on April 6 in Lahore for the appointment of superior courts’ judges during the period of interim set-up. “We believe that the caretaker government should not be part of any appointment of superior court judges because they have no constitutional mandate to do so,” LHCBA’s chief Abid Saqi told the newsmen few days ago. He said the caretaker government was only a stopgap arrangement meant to discharge the day-to-day affairs of the country with a limited mandate, and it would not have any representative character or capacity.
