SC adjourns hearing of Gilani’s appeal for three weeks
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday adjourned hearing of the intra-court appeal of former Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani for three weeks, issuing notices to all parties including Dr. Mubasher Hassan in the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation case.
Gilani filed an intra-court appeal last week against his disqualification by the seven-member larger bench of the apex court in the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation case.
During the course of proceeding, the Chief Justice remarked that the said appeal was filed in the court after passing of 204 days, which is time-barred.
Justice Khilji Arif Hussain stated that the former prime minister had to explain the reasons for the delay in filing his appeal.
The court observed that the former Prime Minister seeks review of court verdict pertaining to his disqualification, however, the bench has clarified that the appeal could not be taken up unless the same sets aside his conviction.
However, the court later on adjourned hearing for three weeks directing the former prime minister to explain his stance for the delay in filing the appeal against his disqualification. app
