ECP to include 'none of the above' box in ballot papers

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to include a 'none of the above' box in ballot papers for voters who do not want to cast their vote for any candidate in their constituency.

Speaking to the media, Election Commission Secretary Ishtiaque Ahmed said the commission will make a request to the prime minister to have an ordinance issued to have the 'none of the above' box included in ballot papers for the upcoming elections.

Ahmed added that a decision regarding providing overseas Pakistanis with the right to vote would be made on Tuesday.

During a meeting of the Election Commission, under the chair of Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim the Election Commission also decided to post names of 189 former parliamentarians with unverified degrees on their website.

It was also decided during the meeting that polling would be monitored via satellite.
