Jamshed Dasti jailed for three years in fake degree case

MUZAFFARGARH: A local court on Thursday handed down three years jail term with Rs 5000 fine to former member National Assembly Jamshed Dasti in the fake degree case.

He was also disqualified from contesting election. Dasti was arrested from the court room following the hearing.

The former Pakistan People's Party MNA who quit the party and announced contesting election against former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar broke down in tears outside the court.

He had earlier submitted his nomination paper to run for National Assembly election and reached the Election Commission office on a donkey cart.

Dasti, on Wednesday, announced that he would not contest election.
