Election 2013: Objections raised over Imran Khan, Ch Nisar’s nomination
RAWALPINDI: Objections have been raised over Pakistan Tehrik-e-Isaf leader, Imran Khan and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz stalwart, Chaudhry Nisar’s nomination papers filed in NA-56 and NA-52 respectively, Geo News reported.
According to details a Mohammad Hafeez, a resident of Lahore, in his petition filed quoted an excerpt from a book authored by Imran Khan, in which the PTI leader had confessed to gambling, thus he fails Article 62 of the constitution.
In the plea file the petitioner’s counsel also claimed that a court in Los Angeles, USA, declared Imran Khan the biological father of Tyrian, the late Sita White’s daughter, who she had claimed, was her “love child” with the cricketer-turned political tycoon.
Countering these allegations, Imran Khan’s lawyer, Malik Ehtehsam said his client had denied being Tyrian’s father for more than once, adding these implications were unsubstantiated.
The Returning Officer, however, turned down the information downloaded from the Internet asking them to provide certified documents to support of claims made in the petition filed.
On the other hand in NA-52, PML-N’s Chaudhry Nisar faces allegations of understating his assets.
According to a petition filed, Ch Nisar has declared the 684 kanal agriculture land he holds is worth just Rs0.6 million, which is hard to believe given the price of arable acres in the area.
The petitioner also claimed that declared price of PML-N leader’s residence in Faizabad, Rawalpindi, was also as low as Rs6.181 million, whereas according to a notification issued by Punjab government in June 2012, the per marla price of the land there was Rs0.180 million. It added that it only takes simple maths to see the yawning disparity in the actual and the declared worth of assets.
Terming the claims as lofty as well as baseless, Chaudry Nisar’s attorney said that his client was a parliamentarian for the last 28 years and had an immaculate record as far as taxpaying was concerned.
After listening to the arguments of both sides, the scrutiny of Chaudhry Nisar’s nominations papers was adjourned till April 7.
