Sindh police to get special election training
KARACHI: Inspector General Police Sindh Shahid Nadeem Baloch has said that special training program for police officers and cops regarding security of polling stations and polling material is under way with the collaboration of UNDP.
Addressing a meeting at Central Police Office (CPO) here Tuesday, he said to cope with the shortage of manpower in police the national volunteers and cops retired during last three years after security and fitness clearance would be deputed at the polling stations for three days.
The meeting recommended to borrow manpower from civil defence, excise police, anti-corruption police and forest guards to make them part of the proposed security plan.
Regarding the training program, it was noted that training of 40 master trainers have already been completed while training of about 980 cops of Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur and Larkana ranges were under way.
It was also decided that under the General Election-2013 contingency plan, anti-riot equipment including gas guns and shells, helmets, sheets, polo sticks and bullet proof jackets would be supplied to all police ranges.
