Fake Degree Case: LHC declares Jamshed Dasti's conviction null & void
MULTAN: The Lahore High Court Multan bench has declared former MNA Jamshed Dasti’s conviction in the fake degree case null and void and ordered his release.
A local court had sentenced Dasti to three years in prison with Rs 5000 fine for contesting the 2008 elections with a fake degree.
Dasti was also disqualified from contesting the upcoming general elections and was arrested from the courtroom following the hearing.

Muzaffargarh District and Sessions Judge Abdul Rehman Khan Niazi awarded a three-year rigorous imprisonment and Rs5,000 fine to former MNA Jamshed Dasti in a fake degree case on April 5.
He was immediately shifted to the district jail. Principal of a seminary, Jamia Rizvia, Multan, Muhammad Asadullah Haider Rizvi, had also appeared as witness before the court on April 2 and confirmed that Jamshed Dasti had completed his education in his seminary and he had attained the degree after passing the examination.
However, the court convicted Dasti on the request of regional election commissioner of Multan Ashfaq Ahmed Sarwar, a court official said.
