Ballot paper printing begins under military supervision
RAWALPINDI: Pakistani troops were seen getting off their vehicles in the federal capital an hour after the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that army would be deployed in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad to supervise the printing of ballot papers.
The Pakistan Army will supervise the printing of ballot papers, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), media wing of the armed forces here on Saturday.
According to latest reports, troops have started taking positions at printing houses located in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
“Army would be deployed where the ballot papers will be printed,” the ISPR said earlier.
The decision to deploy the army troops at the printing stations was taken by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) as part of security arrangements, keeping in view the sensitive nature of the task.
