PM bars interim federal cabinet from issuing political statements
ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso has barred the interim federal cabinet from issuing political and personal statements for an indefinite period, sources said.
The decision was made in light of a recent statement made by interim Interior Minister Malik Habib regarding PML-N Preisdent Nawaz Sharif.
During his meeting with the interior minister here on Saturday, the prime minister said that the mandate of the caretaker government is to ensure free‚ fair‚ transparent and credible elections and to maintain conducive environment for the upcoming general elections.
He said it is necessary that the caretaker government‚ its ministers and the government machinery conducts itself impartially.
During the meeting, the issue of controversial statement made by the interior minister pertaining to a political leader came under discussion.
The Interior Minister apprised the Prime Minister that the statement as was made with good intensions. However‚ his expression created an impression which was not intended.
The Prime Minister said that the caretaker government is obliged to conduct the affairs of the government in the run up of elections where no one can raise questions about its probity.
