Sindh reshuffles bureaucracy; ECP orders removal of KP IGP
KARACHI/PESHAWAR: The Sindh government, on the orders of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), has overhauled the bureaucracy in the province.
The provincial government has changed deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners, secretaries and directors general in Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas, Sukkur and Larkana. On Thursday, the ECP had given the caretaker government seven days to appoint competent officials on the posts of chief secretary, secretaries of education, local government, home department, the deputy commissioners, mukhtiarkars, and education and police officers in the province.
An official had said that the commission had received complaints against nearly 15 SSPs, eight district education officers and 20 deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners. The election commission has also directed the interim governments to ensure that the bureaucracy remains impartial. Meanwhile, the ECP ordered the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to replace IGP Akbar Hoti.
The ECP had received complaints against Akbar Hoti that several of his close associates were candidates in the upcoming elections. Taking notice of these complaints, the ECP ordered the provincial government to replace the IGP on an immediate basis. Talking to newsmen in the Election Commission Secretariat, ECP Secretary Ishtiaq Ahmad said the commission is trying to ensure impartiality in all four provinces. Replying to a question on reports about delay in elections, he said the ECP is fully prepared to hold elections on time. agencies
