Army to guard printing of ballot papers
RAWALPINDI: Army troops were deployed on Saturday on security duty in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore and the places where ballot papers are being printed. On the directions of the Election Commission of Pakistan, 180 million ballot papers will be printed for the seats of the National provincial assemblies for the upcoming general election, official sources said on Saturday. Ballot papers for the National Assembly would be green in colour, while those of provincial assemblies would be in white. On Saturday evening, the Pakistan Army took over the control of security of the sites where ballot papers would be printed. The ballot papers will have 11 security features so as to avoid any fake vote in the general election. The printing of ballot papers is expected to start from April 19, and the process of printing would be completed within six days. The Printing Corporation of Pakistan will print 120 million ballot papers, while the Security Printing Press will print 60 million. staff report/app
