Musharraf summoned on 23rd in Benazir murder case
RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi has summoned former military ruler General (r) Pervez Musharraf on April 23 in the Benazir Bhutto murder case.
During Saturday’s proceedings of the case, the court summoned all accused, including Musharraf, for its upcoming hearing. ATC judge Justice Chaudhry Habibur Rehman heard the case.
During the proceeding, the prosecutor counsel told the court that the permanent arrest warrants of the former president had been issued and he had to be present before the court at all cost.
Despite being summoned twice in the case, Musharraf failed to appear for Saturday’s hearing, after which the judge issued summons for him and the other accused.
The hearing of the case was subsequently adjourned for April 23. Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in a gun-and-bomb attack outside Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh on December 27, 2007. She was killed after addressing an election campaign rally in the city.
An anti-terrorism court had indicted the former president in the case in February 2011. He was declared a proclaimed offender in August the same year. agencies
