Elections should be held on time: Gilani

MULTAN: Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Senior Vice Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani said on Sunday that elections should be held on time.
Talking to newsmen at the residence of former Shah Rukn-e-Alam town nazim Chaudhry Qaisar Gujjar, a PML-N local leader, who joined the PPP on Sunday, Gilani said that the PPP was a democratic party that always took decisions on the basis of democratic norms. He said that the party had finalised seat adjustment with the Pakistan Muslim League-Q. He said the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) was being recognised internationally. Gilani claimed that the Waseela-e-Haq, Waseela-e-Rozgar, Life Insurance, Health Insurance and Technical Education of the BISP were highly popular programmes launched by the PPP to empower the poor masses. He said he was electioneering without any special security or protocol. Gilani said he had provided Rs 2 billion for improving sanitation in Multan. He appealed to the election commission to allow candidates to depute vehicles to bring voters to the polling stations, as it would ensure maximum turnout. He maintained that the PPP was not promoting family politics. app
