Election Tribunals to scrap appeals pending beyond today: ECP
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Wednesday announced that Election Tribunals hearing appeals against the acceptance/rejection of nomination papers will dismiss the appeals which remain undecided beyond today (April 17) – the last day of hearing such appeals.
The ECP states that appeals which are not decided by today’s deadline will automatically stand dismissed under The Representation of Peoples Act.
According to the ECP schedule, April 17 was the last day for the Election Tribunals to hear appeals against the nomination papers.
The ECP will release the final list of candidates on April 19 and then the political parties will have around 20 days for electioneering to be followed by polling on May 11 for the National Assembly and the four provincial assemblies.
