ANP to charge Zardari, Kayani if it loses more members: Bilour
PESHAWAR: Ghulam Bilour, a senior Awami National Party leader and a candidate for NA-1 constituency who survived a deadly suicide attack on Tuesday, declared on Wednesday that the heads of four constitutional bodies and leaders of those parties who do not decry terrorism would be charged the next time any member of his family or party member is lost to terrorist acts.
In less than 24 hours since he survived the suicide attack during an election meeting in Yakatoot area on Wednesday evening, which left 17 dead and around 50 injured, Ghulam Bilour held a news conference to make the declaration. “I will book the president, the chief justice of Pakistan, the chief election commissioner, the army chief and those party leaders who do not decr y terrorism if any member of my family or party is killed in any terrorist act,” the senior ANP leader who lost his brother Bashir Bilour to terrorists in a suicide attack last year told the news conference at his residence.
The senior ANP leader went on to say, “We are Muslims and Pakhtoon and we don’t run away to leave the ground. We are not among those who run away.”
“I am not as upset about myself but for those who were killed in Yakatoot attack,” a gloomy Ghulam Bilour said, adding he would still contest the election. “We are fighting the war for the country’s survival. This is not our personal war,” Ghulam Bilour said pressing the clerics to come up with an edict that “one who kills a Muslim cannot be a Muslim”. He questioned why was the ANP being targeted. staff report
