PM lauds parties for galvanising masses in electoral process

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Justice (R) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso on Friday lauded the political parties for their active participation in the ongoing electoral process and stressed upon ministry of interior and home departments to plug security holes which might affect the process.
He was addressing caretaker chief minister Punjab Najam Sethi, caretaker chief minister Balochistan Nawab Ghaus Bukhsh Barozai and caretaker chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Justice (R) Tariq Pervaiz who called on him at the Prime Minister’s House.
They discussed the overall political situation in the country with special focus on the prevailing law and order.
The Prime Minister while addressing the chief ministers, said it was heartening to note that all the political parties, representing all shades of political spectrum, had decided to be part of the mainstream political process.
“This shows their confidence in the democratic dispensation. However, this confidence has seriously affected due to recent killings of the prominent party candidates belonging to major political parties,” he added.
The prime minister maintained that as they were approaching the election day, law and order situation was becoming a challenging task for the caretaker government.
“It is the duty and obligation of the government to provide a conducive atmosphere for the conduct of fair and transparent elections,” he added.
Prime Minister Khoso further said that there was a need to restore and strengthen confidence of people by ensuring a peaceful environment during the elections and by maintaining law and order.
He stressed upon the Ministry of Interior and Home departments in the provinces and FATA, to lay additional emphasis in addressing the security loop holes. He said that they should all do their utmost efforts to plug all holes that could affect or disrupt the electoral process.
He also asked the chief ministers for a candid discussion on law and order situation and find comprehensive and objective solutions.
The prime minister said that every citizen must be treated equally with dignity of human life fully protected while liberty of life and honour must be guaranteed as envisaged in the Constitution. app
