Nabil Gabol requests ECP to deploy army in Lyari on polling day

ISLAMABAD: MQM candidate Nabil Gabol has requested the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to deploy the army in NA-248 (Lyari) on polling day.

Gabol compared Lyari to Waziristan and said it was a no-go area in Karachi. Speaking to the media after submitting his request to the ECP, Gabol said personnel from the Pakistan Army, Rangers and police should be deployed inside and outside of polling stations. He added that if the army was not deployed in Lyari the elections could be boycotted.

According to Gabol he would approach the Supreme Court if his request for army deployment in Lyari was not implemented. The MQM candidate further said that elections could be delayed if there was large scale incident of terrorism in Karachi.
