Ashraf criticizes ‘disrespect of president’
ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister, Raja Pervez Ashraf Monday said that some politicians were trying to vitiate the political environment by mud-slinging against the President of Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference here at PPP Media Centre here senior Pakistan Peoples Party leader, Raja Pervez Ashraf warned against pushing the country's politics back into 1990s era.
He said that a conspiracy was being hatched to delay the elections in the country and those trying to provoke the PPP workers were also part of the conspiracy.
"Showing disrespect for the President was like bringing the country, constitution, parliament", Pervez Ashraf said adding that political parties should count their own achievements during their five year rule, rather than accusing anyone else.
The former PPP prime minister said that the PPP worker shad the right to respond to the accusations from a former chief minister of a province in the same coin.
Raja Pervez Ashraf claimed that the PPP has never been given level playing field in the elections since 1988 and these elections were no exception.
