6.2-magnitude quake jolts Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Tremors were felt across Pakistan, including Parachinar, Mohmad Agency, Shabqadar, Swat, Peshawar, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Chiniot and Lahore, on Wednesday, however, no loss of life was reported.

According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake measured 6.2 on the Richter scale with its epicentre in southeastern Afghanistan. The earthquake created panic and the people rushed to open spaces, fearing for their safety. According to the Meteorological Department, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck the northern areas of Pakistan. Tremors were felt in Islamabad, Gujranwala, Mianwali, Muffarabad, Faisalabad, Hazara division, Mansehra division, Peshawar, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Nowshera, Malakand division, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Kamoki, Okara, Kasur, Chiniot, Chitral, Shangla, Sialkot, Mardan, Kurram Agency and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
