Hajj corruption case : SC exempts Gilani from personal appearance
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday exempted former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani from appearing in person before the apex court and directed him to appear through his counsel in the Hajj corruption case. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chauhdry resumed hearing of the case and Gilani appeared before it seeking exemption from personal appearance. During the course of the proceedings, the chief justice told Gilani that the court had not directed him to appear before it. He said some legal issues need to be discussed and asked Gilani to appoint a lawyer so that he could plead his case. app
