MQM to welcome if polls postponed: Raza Haroon
MULTAN: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Raza Haroon Sunday said his party would welcome if the May 11 general elections were postponed.
Talking to media persons here in Hussain Agahi area, Haroon said political activities are in full swing only in a single province while the three federating units appear to be far from ready to go into the polls. “This scenario will only pave way not for election but selection,” he warned.
He regretted that none of the parties, which have remained safe from terror attacks, publicly denounced the recent bombings.
Raza Haroon said that the party leaders should desist from issuing derogatory statements against one another.
To a question, he said the terrorist organizations do not want democracy in the country.
APP adds: The Rabita Committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has announced, in no uncertain terms, that the MQM would not give up its democratic right and would take part in the general elections under all conditions.
Talking to party chief Altaf Hussain, members of the RabitaCommittee said that their spirits were high, and they were undaunted by terrorism, violence, killings and threats, said a statement issued by MQM here on Saturday.
The Rabita Committee told Altaf Hussain that they would face conspiracies against the MQM but would not surrender before terrorism under any condition.
Besides every worker of the MQM, each member of the Rabita Committee was also steadfast and resolute.
Altaf Hussain paid tribute to members of the Rabita Committee on exhibiting courage and firmness in a testing time.
