Petition challenging Musharraf’s farmhouse as sub-jail dismissed

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday dismissed the petition challenging the notification declaring Musharraf’s farmhouse as sub-jail issued by the chief commissioner, Geo News reported.

A single member bench of the IHC comprising Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan conducted the hearing of the plea filed by Advocate Aslam Ghumman through his counsel Ashraf Gujjar. The plea sought nullification of the notification.

In earlier hearing, the court had issued pre-admission notices to the Islamabad chief commissioner and inspector general of police (IGP) and sought reply in this regard.

During today’s hearing, the prosecutor argued that there is no law that allows to keep the accused of terrorism at his residence by declaring it as sub-jail. He said that the notification should be termed null and void and Musharraf should be sent to Adiala Jail.

After the break, the judge issued the order stating that the commissioner has the legal right to declare the residence as sub-jail and dismissed the petition.
