Overseas Pakistanis cannot be given facility to vote: Federation
ISLAMABAD: In its reply submitted to the Supreme Court on Monday, the Federation said overseas Pakistanis cannot be given the right to vote in the upcoming general elections, adding that the facility will definitely be provided during the next elections.
A three member bench under the chair of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry heard the case pertaining to giving overseas Pakistanis the right to vote.
The Federations reply was submitted to the Supreme Court during the hearing by Attorney General Irfan Qadir.
The reply further stated that the Election Commission of Pakistan had unanimously decided the federation would propose required legislation to give overseas Pakistanis the right to vote, adding that it was not possible to provide the facility for the upcoming general elections.
