No unopposed winner this general election
MULTAN: Thirty candidates won National Assembly seats unopposed in the history of nine general elections in the country, but there won’t be even a single unopposed winner in the general election of 2013. According to data, 20 of them belonged to the Pakistan People’s Party, while 10 were independent candidates. Nineteen candidates won unopposed in the general election of 1977. PPP leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim (Sindh) is the last candidate who secured unopposed victory in the election of 1993. In general election of 1970, Nimatullah (NW-21) won unopposed. In 1977, 19 politicians won, including Haji Noor Khan (NA-154), Mehr Mehra Khan Bajarani (NA-155), Abdul Fateh Khan (NA-157), Ghulam Mujtaba Jatoe (NA-158), Syed Bashir Ahmed Shah (NA-159), Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (NA-163), Sardar Ahmed Khan (NA-164), Mumtaz Bhutto (NA-165), Makhdoom Muhammad Zaman Talibul Mola (NA-166), Haji Najamuddin Khan (NA-171), Malik Sikandar Khan (NA-176), Raees Ali Khan (NA-177), Liaqat Ali Khan (NA-178), Raees Ata Mohammad Khan Murree (NA-180), Taaj Mohammad Jamali (NA-197), Mir Abdul Nabi Jamali (NA-198), Prince Mohiyuddin (NA-199) and Mir Amanullah (NA-200). In the general elections of 1988, 1997, 2002 and 2008, not even a single candidate could won general elections uncontested. app
