Sindh APC: 17 parties call for army deployment at polling stations

KARACHI: Seventeen political parties participated in the APC called by Sindh interim government demanded the deployment of military at polling stations.

Meanwhile, five political parties including MQM and PPP opposed the opinion regarding deployment of troops. These parties said it should be deployed only at sensitive polling stations in Karachi.

During the meeting, MQM representatives questioned how polls could be transparent when they didn’t get enough room for electoral campaign.

Following the meeting, Chief Secretary Sindh said the army could be deployed at any polling station on the request of the presiding officer.

In the run-up to the general elections, there is a wave of terrorist attacks in Karachi targeting MQM, PPP and ANP.
