Combatants with clean chits should also be released: Ibrahim
PESHAWAR: Member Taliban negotiation committee and Amir Jamat-e-Islami-KP, Professor Ibrahim Friday said the government should not only release non-combatants but also the militants who had been declared clear by the intelligence agencies.
Talking to Geo News, Prof Ibrahim said a meeting is expected between the two negotiation committees on Saturday. However, no such information in this regard has been shared with us, he added.
He said the next meeting with the Interior Minister will focus on restoration of peace and the related issues besides the time and venue of the second round of talks with the Taliban Shura.
Ibrahim said he had not received any information from the government or Taliban in connection with the release of people belonging to Mehsud tribe. These reports are reaching only through the media, he added.
He said if the government provides evidence of the release of detainees, the Taliban will also be urged to reciprocate the move by freeing people in their captivity.
