Imran-ECP meeting today over rigging claims
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan would meet officials of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) today (Friday) to express his concerns over alleged rigging in the May 2013 general elections, especially over the “35 punctures” story.
Earlier, in this connection the PTI has published a white paper alleging the rigging in general elections of May, 2013 and many of the petitions filed by the PTI candidates were pending with the election tribunals formulated for addressing the concerns of the candidates. Central Information Secretary PTI Shireen Mazari, meanwhile, said that there is no forward block within in the PTI and Chairman PTI Imran Khan will be meeting the so-called forward block of PTI MPAs from KPK on Friday in Islamabad. She said it is not a forward block as such but these MPAs have some concerns and the Chairman is seeking to resolve them as all these MPAs have reiterated their continuing trust in and support for Chairman Imran Khan and the Party.
Shireen Mazari condemned the illegal and forcible occupation of government forestland by a land mafia in Rajanpur district allegedly supported by the Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Sher Ali Khan Gorchani and his clan. They have encroached on forestland, cut down the forest and started cultivation of crops all on government forest land.
Mazari pointed out that the Forest Officer has sought help from Chief Conservator of Forests Southern Zone who has in turn sought CM Punjab’s help – such is the terrorization power of the Gorchani chiefs in the district.
