PM’s continued absence: Opposition to present amendment in Senate rule
ISLAMABAD: The continued absence of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif from the Senate ever since he assumed the coveted office has urged the Opposition parties to introduce an amendment in the Senate rules, Geo News reported on Monday.
According to sources, the proposed amendment in Senate rule 61 will bound Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to attend the session at least once a week. Furthermore, the zero hour of the Senate will be replaced with the PM’s zero hour, sources told.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Senator Tahir Hussain Mashhadi will present the amendment in rule 61 of the Senate.
While talking to Geo News, Tahir Mashhadi said the amendment in the rule simply requires majority to implement the proposed change.
It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has not attended a single Senate session since he took oath as the premier of the country.
