MQM questions ‘silence’ over Karachi killings
Khoro asks MQM to bring proof against ‘plainclothesmen’
KARACHI – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain on Friday condemned ‘extra-judicial’ killings of his party workers and urged the government to take immediate action against the killings.
In a statement, Altaf condemned the killings and said that these incidents were matter of grave concern for every person who believes in humanity. “The extra-judicial murder of Qasim Ali and Muhammad Ali is sheer violation of human rights,” he said.
“The government's silence (over killings) is meaningful,” Altaf said, as bodies of two MQM workers were recovered from Korangi area. Local police said the men were shot dead after being kidnapped. MPA Faisal Sabzwari confirmed the victims' association with MQM, saying ‘plainclothesmen’ are behind kidnapping and extra-judicial killing of the party workers.
Talking to journalists, Sindh Minister Nisar Khoro asked MQM to bring proof against what they call plainclothesmen. “If anyone has reservations, he can go to courts as the judiciary is independent now,” he said, and also told questioner that MQM has demanded operation in Karachi. “Operation will continue till elimination of crimes and criminals from the city and province,” he said.
