Dr Naseem dies in Birmingham
LONDON – Dr Mohammad Naseem, 90, chairman of Birmingham Central Mosque - one of the largest Islamic centre of the UK, on Tuesday expired at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the mosque announced on its website and Facebook page.
“We would like to inform you with great sadness that great Muslim leader Dr Muhammad Naseem passed away this morning at the age of 90 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital,” the announcement read. Dr Naseem was the elder brother of Naeem Tahir, a regular columnist of Daily Times.
Dr Naseem – born in Amritsar in British India in 1924 – was educated mainly in Pakistan and then in the UK where he trained to become and served as a general practitioner for many years. He was also executive member of the Islamic Party of Britain.
