Pakistan, Ukraine ready for more defence cooperation
Minister asks Ukraine to utilise its capability in defence production

ISLAMABAD – Ukrainian Ambassador to Pakistan Volodymyr Rakomov on Tuesday called on Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain here at the Ministry of Defence Production.
Both the sides agreed to bolster cooperation in defence production. “Pakistan fully shares difficult situation Ukraine is passing through these days. We want Ukraine to utilize its capability in defence production as it has much to offer to countries in this regard,” the minister told his guest.
Pakistan also shared concerns regarding delays in existing contracts on which Ukraine assured that despite all propaganda, Ukraine will continue to progress. The ambassador appreciated the concerns of the minister on the situation in Ukraine, however said that all factories were in full swing and there were no problems of legitimacy in Ukraine as portrayed.
“Our friendship must continue and we should keep working in the right directions,” he said. “All our factories and defence production industries are safe and no penetration of any sort, he added. Upon the concerns in delaying of projects, Ukraine assured that the problems were due to some manufacturing delays and they were being rectified. The supplies would start soon and assured that the problem would be expedited, he said.
Pakistan side was represented by Defence Production Secretary Tanvir Tahir and Additional Secretary along with the minister. They also raised an issue of allowing different firms to interact as one firm interaction is not in benefit of both Pakistan and Ukraine. “We will participate in IDEAS 2014 with full zest and fervor and hope that our pavilion will be the second largest after China,” the ambassador said.
