No compromise on national security: Nawaz

LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif asserted on Tuesday that the government will not compromise on national security. Nawaz Sharif said that the stability of Pakistan would be protected, and hoped that the dialogue with the Taliban would yield positive result. Talking to mediamen after arriving in London on a three-day official visit, the prime minister said his government had started the dialogue process with sincerity, as it was good for the country’s stability. “If peace is established through talks, and the lawlessness and carnage are controlled, it is a good thing,” he said. The whole world, he added, adopted such mechanisms, and referred to the UK’s history, saying it had also resolved its issues with Ireland. About Karachi’s situation, the prime minister said soon after assuming responsibilities his government took measures for the restoration of peace in the port city. “We did not waste time. We took all the parties on board. Through operation, the situation in Karachi is being controlled. Peace in Karachi is dear to us as it is an economic hub and commercial centre of Pakistan and we are paying special attention to it,” he added.
