Army chief reviews progress on Zarb-e-Azb in Shawal
RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif was on Monday in Shawal to review progress on the last phase of Zarb-e-Azb military operation, the Inter-Services Public Relations said in a statement.
The army chief was briefed about the operational gains so far, the statement said. It added that since the start of the last phase, more than 800 sq/km of area has been secured.
General Sharif directed the officers concerned to undertake large-scale combined operations in order to eliminate terrorists, sleeper cells and facilitators, it said.
Lauding the sacrifices of the officers and soldiers, the army chief said: “The entire nation is standing shoulder-to-shoulder with us.” He added that the “nation highly values the sacrifices being rendered”.
