Pakistan committed to implement NAP: China
* Foreign ministry spokesperson says Beijing will continue to support Islamabad in its counter-terrorism effortsChina on Monday applauded Pakistan for devising guidelines to implement the National Action Plan (NAP) as per United Nations Security Council’s resolution and said it shows its resolve to fight terrorism.
“China has noticed the relevant report. The newly released guidelines are Pakistan’s latest measures to implement National Action Plan,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said during a regular press briefing here. He said the newly released guidelines last week show Pakistan’s resolve and commitment to firmly implement the UNSC resolutions. “I think it shows Pakistan’s position and resolve to fight terrorism and to firmly implement the UNSC’s resolutions. China highly appreciates it,” he added.
Lu Kang said Pakistan as an important participant of the international counter-terrorism campaign has long been making great efforts and sacrifices to achieve the goal. “China supports Pakistan in advancing counter-terrorism efforts based on its own national conditions,” he added.
The spokesperson hoped that the international community will enhance cooperation with Pakistan and jointly uphold regional peace and stability.
Last week, Pakistan launched the guidelines for the implementation of the UNSC 1267 Sanctions to further oversee and guide the federal and provincial governments on implementation of sanctions against individuals and entities designated by the UNSC. The guidelines have been formulated in consultation with the stakeholders and in compliance with the international standards, especially as per requirements of the UNSC 1267 Sanctions Committee and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
Separately, Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Chairman Wang Yang Monday said China and Pakistan are good neighbours, friends and partners who have withstood the test of the time and changes in the international landscape.
He made these remarks in a meeting with Senate Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwala who is currently on a three-day visit to China along with a three-member delegation comprising senators Sassi Palejo, Liaquat Khan Tarakai and Abdul Qayyum.
Wang Yang, also a member of the Politburo Standing Committee, observed that the relationship between the two countries remains solid and enjoying a good momentum of growth. He particularly mentioned the frequent exchanges between the leadership of the two countries and good progress made in bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Wang Yang acknowledged the role of Senate deputy chairman in promoting friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He also commended the visiting dignitary over helping establishment of China-Pakistan Friendship Group in the Senate of Pakistan. He hoped that the visit of the deputy chairman will help further boost the China-Pakistan brotherly ties.He recalled his last visit to Pakistan in which he led a delegation to attend 70th Independence Day celebrations and said that he was deeply impressed by achievements and development in Pakistan. He assured to continue strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries in all fields. The deputy chairman said both Pakistan and China enjoy strong and deep-rooted relations and expressed the hope that these relations will grow further in all the fields. He also thanked the Chinese side for extending hospitality and goodwill towards the delegation.
Later, the deputy chairman held a separate meeting with CPPCC Vice Chairman Gao Yunlong and expressed satisfaction over the bilateral relations and discussed ways and means to further cement these ties. The CPPCC vice chairman also hosted a welcome dinner in the honour of the delegation.
