Only lawyers got democracy restored, says AQ Khan
LAHORE: The country’s political leaders have made tall claims, but only lawyers struggled for an independent judiciary and the restoration of democracy in the country, nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan said on Thursday. He was speaking during a telephonic address to a gathering of lawyers held under the aegis of the Save Judiciary Committee at the Lahore High Court Bar Association premises. Khan said only the lawyers’ struggle got the judiciary restored and forced a dictator to leave office. Appreciating the lawyers’ unity and their efforts for addressing the people’s problems, Khan thanked lawyers for supporting him in hard times. staff report
