CJP visits Tando Adam Prison
TANDO ADAM: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry paid a surprise visit to Tando Adam Prison and directed Chief Justice Sindh High Court to take notice of Superintendent Prison’s not knowing of the number of inmates.Chief Justice SHC Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani and Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja accompanied the CJP on the occasion.
The CJP, upon reaching Tando Adam Prison, reprimanded the Superintendent Prison when he failed to give a reasonable answer to the query of the CJP about the number of present inmates.
Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry witnessed the record of the prisoners and listened to their problems and complaints.
One of the inmates told the CJP that he stole a vehicle on the direction of police and later the same police put him behind bars for that.
The CJP also expressed his indignation on keeping some of the inmates in the absence of challans.
