PM Gilani wants state institutions strengthened
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani today opened the debate on the 18th Amendment in the National Assembly.
Praising the leadership of all political parties and members of the constitutional reforms committee (CRC), Gilani said people will always remember the achievements of their elected representatives.
Addressing the first session of the third parliamentary year in NA, he said Pakistani leadership has set aside their differences in the national interest.
The passage of the 18th Amendment is the desire of whole nation, he said.
Referring to the charter of democracy, he said Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto had admitted their past mistakes before signing the CoD.
"Our aim is to strengthen the state's institutions and in turn strengthen democracy in the country," he added.
