KARACHI: Additional District and Sessions Judge Obaid Ahmed Khan on Wednesday awarded life sentence (25 years in prison) to Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) leaders Afaq Ahmed and Aamir Khan. The verdict was announced at the Judicial Complex in the Karachi Central Jail.

The MQM-H leaders were charged with possession of illegal arms and for ordering the abduction and subsequent killing of Farooq Siddiqui, brother of MQM’s former member of provincial assembly Haroon Siddiqui. Statements of 14 witnesses were recorded during the hearing of the cases. In his judgement, the judge said the statements of some witnesses proved that Farooq was killed at the behest of Afaq and Aamir. staff report/online
