No military operation will be carried out in Kala Dhaka: PM

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Yousaf Raza Gilani on Thursday assured the National Assembly that no military operation will be carried out in the Kala Dhaka area of Hazara Division.

He said that all necessary steps would be taken to ensure peace in all areas of the country.

Speaking in the House in response to the points of order by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) members, who also staged a token walk out from the proceedings of the House at the very outset of the session, the PM said that it was decided earlier than a military operation were to be launched in the Kala Dhaka area of Hazara Division as well, but later on this decision was withdrawn.

Gilani said that 42 suspects were arrested from the area, but after investigations, 40 of them were released. The PM said he was in contact with the provincial government and hoped that the release of the remaining two suspects, who were most wanted, would also be settled through a meeting of a jirga.
