No let-up in power outages
KARACHI: The protests against prolong and unscheduled power outages continue across the country on Tuesday.
The traders and citizens held demonstrations against electricity load-shedding in Rahimyar Khan, Bahawalnagar and Sargodha.
People annoyed over simmering heat and hours-long power outages took to the streets in several cities.
The load-shedding duration rose to 20 hours in Sargodha, where partial strike is being observed. The activists of PML-N and traders took out a rally against the power crisis. The participants of the rally torched the effigies of rulers and changed anti-government slogans.
In Rahimywar, Markazi Anjaman-e-Tajiran observed complete strike in the district and took out a rally from Railway Chowk to DCO office.
A hunger strike camp was set up in Bahwalnagar against the prolong power cuts.
While 15 to 18 hours of load-shedding continue in almost all cities of South Punjab, including Multan.
The situation is no different from South Punjab in interior Sindh.
The load-shedding duration in Nowsheha jumped to 18 hours. Swat and its adjoining areas are bracing 16 to 18 hours of power outages a day.
The situation is very appalling in Balochistan, where load-shedding in rural areas have exceeded 21 hours.
