No deadline for end to load shedding, says PEPCO
Staff Report
LAHORE: The Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) is unable to give any deadline to the public for the end of load shedding, as it is a highly technical issue, PEPCO Energy Management and Conservation Director General (DG) Muhammad Khalid said on Monday.
The PEPCO energy management DG made these comments while addressing a news conference at the WAPDA House.
Khalid said Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani was seriously concerned about the prolonged load shedding in Lahore, and had directed Water and Power Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf to take immediate steps to curtail the duration of load shedding in the city.
On a directive issued by the water and power minister, PEPCO had reviewed its load management plan and reduced power shutdowns from 11 to nine hours in the city, he said.
Khalid said the steel industry of the provincial metropolis has been closed down to reduce the duration of power shutdowns being experienced by citizens.
