Senate votes on 18th Amend Bill clauses


ISLAMABAD: The upper house Thursday started clause wise voting on 18th constitutional amendment bill after the Senate concluded debate on yesterday.

The senate session is underway with the Chairman Farooq H. Naek in the chair.

PML-Q senators staged walkout from the session whereas PML-N senators lodge protest after ANP senator Haji Adeel's outburst against the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah. However, they returned to the house after Senator Haji Adeel apologized on his remarks.

Later, the clause wise voting on 18th amendment has begun. Pakistan Muslim League (Q) has proposed amendments in the clause about the new name of NWFP.

PML-Q Senator Jameel Leghari also tabled amendment for separate Southern Punjab province, which was rejected by the house.
