Power crisis persists, as shortfall pegged at 5000MW
ISLAMABAD: The country is all rife with protests against the ongoing protracted power outages, as the shortfall is still adamant at 5000 Megawatts, Geo News reported Thursday.
Islamabad is suffering from the issue with a load shedding span of six hours, Rawalpindi 10 hours; while, several small cities and villages including Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujjar Khan are buckling under juggernaut 16-hour load shedding.
The trade organizations in South Punjab came out with protests demonstrations against power outages, inflation and Value-added Tax.
The protest demonstrations were organized with tyres set ablaze on call from trade organizations in Deral Ghazi Khan, Khanewal, Ahmedpur Sharqia and Vihari. Rallies were taken out as well. The demonstrators protesting against power crisis went on rampage in Gujranwala.
Faisalabad continues to suffer six to eight-hour load shedding; while, Multan, Kabirwala, Jahanian, Muzaffargarh, Jalalpur, Pirwala and Shuja’abad are afflicted with 12-hour load shedding and this span is 16 hours in rural areas.
Karachi is suffering from 4 to 6-hour span of unannounced load shedding and in some areas, the power goes off for eight to 10 hours on the apparent pretext of repair work in some areas.
At least 10 to 12-hour load shedding is plaguing the life in various Sindh cities including Nawabshah, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Sukkar, Mirpur Khas and Jackobabad; while, in rural areas, the span of affliction bulges from 12 to 14 hours.
The power crisis has badly hit NWFP including Peshawar also, as power goes off for several hours in Noshehra, Drea Ghazi Khan, Swat, Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat and Mansehra.
The power crisis has rendered the lives of people in Balochistan quite miserable, as they have to live without electricity for 15 to 18 hours in several areas including Quetta, Chaman, Pashin, Fort Saifullah and Loralai.
