No objection to Pak-US civilian nuclear cooperation: Singh

WASHINGTON: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said that India does not wish to interfere in Pakistan’s relations with the US. Commenting on Pakistan’s wish for a nuclear deal with the US on Tuesday, Singh said, “Who am I to interfere with what goes on between Pakistan and the US?” Singh ruled out serious discussions with Pakistan until it took “credible steps” to bring the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks to justice. Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani had refuted India’s claims, saying Islamabad had banned Lashkar-e-Tayyaba. Gilani argued that India needed to provide more evidence, to which Singh shot back that senior members of LT were “roaming around freely” in Pakistan. “I don’t see that there is any need for any further evidence,” Singh said. agencies
