Nothing new in UN report: Nawaz
* PML-N chief says ‘self-centred group’ put Hazara on fire for vested interests
Staff Report
LAHORE: There is nothing new in the UN commission’s report on Benazir Bhutto’s assassination and most of the questions about her murder still remain unanswered, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif said on Saturday.
Talking to reporters, Nawaz said one of the most important questions of the crime scene being washed away immediately after the incident was not answered in the report, adding that nobody had the answer to that.
Hazara arson: He said the PML-N supported ANP on renaming the NWFP in great national interest, but a “self-centred group had put Hazara on fire for its vested interests”.
Nawaz said these people were indulging in dirty politics, adding that he did not care if his politics “gets wobbly, but the country should not be put at stake”.
Commenting on the resignation of Mehtab Abbasi, Nawaz said Abbasi asked the party not to take any hasty decision regarding the renaming of the NWFP. He said he would comment on Abbasi’s resignation once he received it, saying he understood that Abbasi’s sentiments had been badly hurt.
To a question, Nawaz said prolonged load shedding was the biggest problem faced by the country at the moment and it had devastated the agriculture and industrial landscape.
“The government has failed to do anything significant to end load shedding,” he said.
