Clerks’ association’s demands are genuine: Marvi
Staff Report
RAWALPINDI: Member National Assembly Marvi Memon has said the charter of demands presented by All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) is genuine and the wages of 2.2 million government servants need to be increased in order to meet the rising inflation.
She said the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) will support the clerks’ long march, which is to commence from Quetta on the 24th of April and reach Islamabad on the 28th.
Marvi made these comments, while talking to a 5-member delegation of APCA in the Parliament Lodges. The delegation consisted of APCA Additional Secretary Mehboob Ali Bhatti, Secretary Information Chaudary Zafar Billo, Punjab President Shafqat Rasool, Secretary General Awais Ghauri and Punjab Senior Vice President Arshad Bangiyal.
“Government servants, especially clerks need special attention of the government”, the MNA said.
Marvi informed the delegation that she wrote a letter to the PM asking him to fulfill the demand of government servants, and now she “will send a reminder, along with APCA’s charter of demand”.
“I have also raised the issue on the floor of the assembly, but no response was given by the government,” she added.
The delegation thanked the MNA for taking personal interest in their problems.
Later, Arshad Bangial told reporters that clerks from all parts of the country would take part in the long march, under the leadership of APCA’s founder Hadayat Yar Bukhari.
He said Rawlpindi will play the role of the base camp for the long march.
