Quetta police thrash TV journalist for‘negative’ reporting

QUETTA: Police on Friday beat up a journalist of a private TV channel at the Brewery Police Station for reporting the police protest demanding a pay raise in a “negative way”. Balochistan Chief Minister Aslam Raisani took notice of the incident and directed the officials concerned to probe into the matter. Journalist Mustafa Tarin told a press conference that he was going home last night when policemen intercepted him and asked him to show his vehicle’s registration papers. Tarin said he showed the policemen the registration papers after which they asked him about his profession. On telling the policemen that he was a journalist, they asked him to accompany them to the Brewery Police Station. Tarin said that when they reached the police station, the officials started beating him and tore his clothes because journalists had reported the police protest on January 25, 2010 in a “negative way”. staff report
